i really like quizno's... and i'll tell you why. it's not the sandwich itself. i could care less whether it's toasted on some special bread, because it really doesn't make much of a difference to me, since my taste buds are shot. but the only reason why i really like quizno's is because of the condiments and sauce bar, or 'buffet' as i like to call it. as many people can testify, the latest being janette, i'm more into sauces and condiments than the actual meal itself. for example, the reason why i love la burrita the best is because the salsa that comes with the great burrito. papa john's is awesome because the garlic sauce, that is quite literally pure melted butter, and the pepperocini's. i really can't taste the difference between papa john's and pizza hut, and even if i could, i really wouldn't care. it's the extra crapola that matters.
so for quizno's, they have a toppings 'buffet' where they have 4 different sauces, pickles, chopped pepperocini's, jalapeno's, and whole pepperocini's. i literally pack it all in, along with the hot sauce and horseradish sauce, and put it all in my sandwich. of course, my sandwich is too big and all the condiments fall out with some lettuce, and then i have myself a condiment salad... which is my favorite part of quizno's. it is just a pile of jalapenos, pepperocini's, some lettuce, hot sauce, and horseradish sauce all mixed together, but it's awesome. so at quizno's, you get a sandwich AND a salad (and a free large drink with my student ID). awesome.

what a dave-like post.

janette actually saw this ad in the magazine, so this is not a hoax:
racist or truth or both?

also, from the wall street journal today:
********
NEW YORK -- SBC Communications Inc. is expected to announce it will offer Wi-Fi, or wireless access to the Internet, at more than 3,000 United Parcel Service Inc. retail stores around the country, according to people familiar with the situation...

SBC and UPS aim to offer Wi-Fi at UPS retail stores because those locations are often used as de facto offices by businesspeople and consumers. Instead of merely sending mail or making copies, they will soon also be able to access the Internet on their own laptops at such stores.
********
quite honestly, a UPS store is the last place i would think to bring my laptop even if i was a small business owner. i dunno, that's just me though.

according to my dad, i sound like a "mentally retarded," "psychologically troubled person" who "sounds like i am about to get real angry," "disabled person soliciting calls" on my cell phone voice mail. even if it is true, my dad is hilarious. to say the least, i changed my voicemail.

the best part is i thought it was funny, because if this were high school, i'd get into a huge fight about it because i would be so offended. i think that's cool.

yesterday, my macro prof brought her 9 year old daughter to class. yes, she had school too, but she wasn't "feeling well" so my prof just brought her along. we spent about 15 minutes of class just talking about the duaghter and how she acts and stuff like that. she was apparently in a talent show the night before, so she performed some hilary duff song for us, with my prof dancing along with her. hilarious. then as class started to proceed, the daughter started reading some book and from time to time, the prof would look at her and start talking to her. she was also doing things just to get the attention of the class as well. i guess some people were annoyed that the prof was paying more attention to her daughter than teaching the class... i thought it was rather awkward, but whatever, anything to make the day more interesting. after class, i asked the daughter for a cookie and told her in exchange, that i'd stick up for her the next time she's in trouble. it was a good deal she thought.

but on a sidenote, i remember sitting in one of my dad's classes in korea one day. i think it was a lab class he was teaching, but i'm not sure if i remember. all i remember is all these college students staring at me trying to talk english to me and asking me all these questions during the lab. i was super shy and i don't think i answered anyone's questions at all. i just remember sitting there in the back of the room. it would be interesting to sit in on one of his classes from a much older point of view though. maybe if i ever go to korea ever again, i'll do it.

speaking of korea, we were talking about country risk in south korea in my international business class, and whenever you are considering the economic risk of any country, you have to assess the political climate as well. so of course, with south korea, it's a big risk all the time because the political situation is always unstable which in part led to the IMF crisis of '97. i had to bite my tongue the entire class so i wouldn't say "that's right!" whenever the prof talked about the corruption and scandal that occurs there.

sucks that wake lost to st. joe's yesterday. i guess they simply outsmarted them, especially with all the other players able to make the 3-ball.

choose clip 1

janette left today. hanging out with her was probably one of the most fun spring breaks that i never had. what i ate with her:

omelette
pizza
chicken mcnuggets
LA BURRITA!!!!!
deep fried whitefish
southern bbq
cheese, egg, and turkey panini sandwich
3 strawberries

i probably gained a few pounds, lost a few years (if not 30), but had a great experience with an old friend :)

janette is awesome. she brought me la burrita. last night i ate my la burrita and then we tried to eat as many of the 50 pack chicken mcnuggets (for only $9.99!) as we could while watching Once Upon a Time in Mexico while wearing sweats.

steve: i think that this is both a place for personal thoughts and to communicate with friends... which is why i don't always leave comments. if i feel that it's a big issue and it makes me think, i just write it here. and don't worry, you won't lose us as friends, otherwise we would have lost each other a long time ago ;-). also, if i didn't ever share my personal thoughts, i wouldn't say how pj really is gay.

it really upsets me when iraqis demonstrate against the US, especially with issues of "poor security" and "unemployment." i'm sure that a lot of it has to do with what the press reports, but if these people are complaining and demanding more from the US, especially when US troops are dying every single day for these people, then i say let them be and see what life is like without any help. if these protesters want to go back to living under someone like Saddam, then they obviously deserve to live under such oppression.

i also think that the media should start reporting more of the positive sides of the iraqi people. yesterday, i saw a very small headline hidden in a lot of text that the overwhelming majority of iraqis favor the US and are happy that saddam is gone. why don't we hear things like this more often? not only would it help sentiment domestically in the US, it would help the sentiment worldwide.

aileen and i were talking on the phone last night about the "good ol' days" at berkeley, and how we would come out of midterms and finals without any confidence that we got a single question right. such is the tradition at berkeley for most of the students, and i was definitely no exception. during my multivariable calculus final, i took a walk outside for an hour because my brain was so fried after taking two finals that same day, and i couldn't concentrate at all. i saw one guy crouched in the corner next to the building hugging his legs, rocking back and forth trying to jumpstart his brain, and many people were roaming the halls and courtyard like me.
during orgo exams, i remember flipping page by page saying to myself, "nope. nope. nope. never seen that thing before... nope." my friends and i would brag how many problems we actually recognized.
"i think i got two problems completely right, and one partially right."
"oh yeah? i left 2 pages blank and knew only how to name structures!"

i even fell asleep during exams whenever i pulled all-nighters. i have the pencil markings on my tests to prove it. vivarin only made the problem worse, because my hands would jitter.

now that i think about it, partial credit saved my life.

been home for spring break, chilling with aileen and the mom and the sis. pics will go up soon.

home is nice. as i write all the time, whenever i come home, we have something new. this time it was a copy machine and a fax machine. cool stuff.

i also write about what my mom makes me for dinner. this week's list includes spicy tuna hand rolls... excellent. much better than dave's brown omelet.

also, on another side note, i have never seen an engagement ring as big as annie's. it must have weighed a pound. i don't know anything about carats or cuts or whatever, but i DO know that this was huge. a huge diamond in the middle with at least 12 smaller diamonds around it.

this really bothers me... the main headline on cnn.com

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. forces searching for al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden along the mountainous border between Pakistan and Afghanistan will soon implement high-tech surveillance tactics in the region, enabling them to monitor the area 24 hours a day, seven days a week, CNN has learned.

so much for having a secret advantage over the enemy.

saw the passion today with a buddy. don't know what's more disturbing... the images that jesus had to go through or the fact that parents would bring their kids to a movie like that... three kids that were ages 5, 2, an 1 at MOST.

weezer's new DVD is coming out 3/23, and to help promote, i inserted an interactive banner ad. click the button on the bottom left to see a sneak preview. the footage looks like a pre-blue album performance in a club. the content will change over time.

this is more of a perverted entry, but had to post... and it also shows about what my study team actually does in our meetings:

from msnbc.com: Gay Republicans turn on Bush

Of course they do.
