did you know that the QWERTY keyboard is actually one of the least efficient layouts to type? it started because people were typing too fast with typewriters and jammed the keys so often, some guy invented the QWERTY standard because it made people type slower and MAXIMIZED the distance between the most frequently used letters. Remington decided to stick with this standard and mass marketed this layout with its typewriters... thus causing it to "tip." despite the fact that there are so many different layouts that are better, QWERTY remains the standard because there is a high cost associated to switching your keyboard format.
